    Part 1:

“Self awareness leads to better services for families”. This foundational Diversity Informed Infant Mental Health Tenet from the Irving J. Harris Foundation is the focus of our experiential workshop. Participants will engage in part 1 of a 2 part series dedicated to cultivating reflective leaders on behalf of infants, children and families. The first part will focus on the internal processes of self-reflection, particularly around race, culture, and location of self. Authors will guide participants through racialized reflective practice experientials as described in their workbook “Reflective Practice through a Racialized Lens: My Hero’s Journey”.

    Part 2:

How do we move from individual self-reflection about race and culture to talking about it outloud in a group? More importantly, how do we do this in a workplace setting? Part 2 of this Racialized Reflective Practice series will build on the self-reflective processes experienced in Part 1, and provide tools for group facilitators to lead others in racialized self-reflection in a workplace setting. Authors will discuss common group facilitation scenarios and guide participants in practice-based experientials. Participants will leave this workshop series with the tools to be able to facilitate a Racialized Reflective Practice group with their child-serving professional community.
